How To Calculate How Much You Need?
Multiply the length and the width of the wall (in inches) you are wanting to clad. divide this number by 144. This will give you the number of square feet needed to clad your wall. You will need to add 10-15% extra to this number to accommodate for waste and offcuts.
Example Calculation:
Wall Length: 108"
Wall Height: 96"
108 x 96 = 10368 cubic inches
10368 / 144 (number of square inches in 1 square foot) = 72 square feet
72 x 1.15 (15% for waste and offcuts) = 82.8
The amount of Timberwall needed for a wall this size is 82.8 square feet.
Things To Consider:
Before ordering Timberwall, consider the following:
Did you include a 10-15% waste factor?
Do you have all the proper tools required for install?
Will there be baseboards or crown moulding on the wall?
Are you installing shelves or mounting a TV after you install the barn board?
If so, you should mark where the studs are on the wall before your start installing the barn board.
Do you require a finished edge piece on the end of the barn board wall?
This is only required if one end of your wall is on an "open" wall, meaning you will see the exposed cuts after installed. We recommend cutting a small piece of trim from barn board to solve this issue.
