Walnut + Maple Butcher Block Strip Pack

Create a classic hardwood cutting board with this curated walnut and maple butcher block strip pack. This pack includes loose hardwood strips that can be glued, clamped, sanded, and finished into an approximate 12" x 9" cutting board.

Walnut and maple are one of the most popular combinations for cutting boards because they create a clean dark-and-light contrast. Maple keeps the board bright, while walnut adds depth, warmth, and a premium hardwood look.

This is a great option for woodworkers, hobbyists, schools, makerspaces, and DIY customers who already have access to basic woodworking tools and want a ready-to-layout hardwood cutting board strip pack.

Why Walnut + Maple?

Walnut and maple are a classic pairing for cutting board projects. Walnut adds a rich dark brown tone, while maple adds a bright, clean contrast. Together, they create a timeless butcher block look that works well for everyday kitchen boards, serving boards, and gift-style woodworking projects.

Total strips included: 6

Approximate finished board size: 12" x 9"

Important Project Note

This is a hardwood strip pack, not a finished cutting board. The strips are supplied as individual loose pieces of wood and are intended to be glued up, clamped, sanded, and finished by the customer.

This is not a no-tools craft kit. To complete the project, you will need additional tools and supplies such as wood glue, clamps, an orbital sander, sandpaper, and a food-safe finish.

Each strip is accurately cut, so the board can be carefully aligned during glue-up and the edges can be sanded smooth after the glue has cured. The finished size is approximate and may vary slightly after glue-up and sanding.

Natural colour and grain variation should be expected from strip to strip. This is part of working with real hardwood and helps make each finished cutting board unique.

Tools and Supplies You May Need

  • Wood glue suitable for cutting board projects
  • Clamps for glue-up
  • Orbital sander
  • Sandpaper in multiple grits. Recommended grits for smooth results: 80, 120, 150, 180 + 220
  • Food-safe cutting board oil or finish
  • Shop towels for applying finish and cleanup

Recommended Add-Ons

This pack includes the hardwood strips only. To complete your cutting board project, consider adding wood glue, sandpaper, cutting board oil, and Wypall shop towels to your order.
