EcoPoxy UVPoxy is a premium clear coating epoxy designed for flood coats, table top coatings, bar tops, counters, wood finishing, and artistic epoxy projects. It is the right EcoPoxy product when you want a smooth, glossy, protective top coat rather than a deep casting pour.
Use UVPoxy for clear top coats over wood, epoxy tables, serving boards, counters, bar tops, artwork, and other projects that need a durable, water-clear finish. For deep river table pours or shallow charcuterie board pours, see the epoxy comparison section below to choose the correct resin for your project.

Why Choose UVPoxy?
UVPoxy is a strong choice when your project needs a clear, glossy, self-leveling top coat. It is designed for coating applications, not deep casting projects.
- Made for flood coats and top coats: Ideal for clear coating wood, epoxy tables, bar tops, counters, and art projects.
- Clear glossy finish: Creates a smooth, high-gloss surface when mixed, poured, and applied properly.
- Good for final project protection: A useful final coating option after a deep pour project has cured, been flattened, and prepped.
- Pairs with pigments: Can be used clear or with compatible pigments for artistic effects.
- Better for thin coatings: Choose UVPoxy when you need a coating epoxy rather than a casting resin.
UVPoxy vs. FlowCast vs. FlowCast SPR
Choosing the right epoxy is one of the most important parts of a successful project. UVPoxy, FlowCast, and FlowCast SPR are designed for different types of pours.
| Product | Best For | When to Choose It |
|---|---|---|
| EcoPoxy UVPoxy | Flood coats, table top coatings, bar tops, counters, final clear coats, and thin coating applications | Choose UVPoxy when you need a clear top coat or protective coating over wood, epoxy, counters, tables, or artwork. |
| EcoPoxy FlowCast | River tables, deep pours, live edge slabs, large casting projects, and deeper void fills | Choose FlowCast when your project needs a deep-pour casting epoxy rather than a thin coating epoxy. |
| EcoPoxy FlowCast SPR | Charcuterie boards, serving boards, coasters, trays, smaller molds, and shallow pours up to 1" deep | Choose FlowCast SPR when you are making a smaller casting project that is deeper than a coating but not a large river table pour. |

When Should You Use UVPoxy?
Use EcoPoxy UVPoxy when your project needs a clear coating or flood coat. It is a good option for finishing the surface of a table, sealing artwork, adding a glossy top coat to a bar top, or applying a clear epoxy layer over a finished woodworking project.
UVPoxy is especially useful after a casting resin project has cured and been properly surfaced. For example, you may use EcoPoxy FlowCast for the deep river section of a table, then use UVPoxy later as the final clear top coat.
When Should You Use FlowCast Instead?
Use EcoPoxy FlowCast instead of UVPoxy when your project requires a deeper pour, such as a river table, large live edge slab project, thick casting, or deeper void fill. UVPoxy is for thin coating applications, while FlowCast is for deep casting applications.
When Should You Use FlowCast SPR Instead?
Use EcoPoxy FlowCast SPR when you are making a smaller resin casting project, such as a charcuterie board, serving board, coaster, tray, or shallow mold project up to 1" deep. UVPoxy is better for the final top coat or flood coat, while FlowCast SPR is better for the actual shallow casting pour.
Can You Add Colour to UVPoxy?
Yes. UVPoxy can be used clear or with compatible pigments to create coloured coatings, artistic effects, tinted top coats, or decorative resin finishes. For epoxy colour options, shop our mica powder pigments.
For most table top and flood coat projects, many customers prefer a clear UVPoxy finish so the wood grain, epoxy work, or artwork underneath remains visible.
Common Mistakes to Avoid With UVPoxy
UVPoxy is designed for coating applications, but good results still depend on proper prep, mixing, and application. Before you pour, keep these common mistakes in mind:
- Using UVPoxy for a deep pour: UVPoxy is a coating epoxy. For deep river tables and thick casting projects, use EcoPoxy FlowCast.
- Using UVPoxy for a shallow casting project: For charcuterie boards, serving boards, coasters, trays, and smaller pours up to 1" deep, use EcoPoxy FlowCast SPR.
- Poor surface prep: Make sure your surface is clean, dry, level, and properly prepared before applying a flood coat.
- Mixing incorrectly: Always follow EcoPoxy’s current mixing instructions for ratio, mixing time, working temperature, and cure time.
- Pouring too thick: UVPoxy is a thin-build coating epoxy. Do not treat it like a deep pour casting resin.
- Skipping your test piece: For new materials, pigments, or surfaces, test first before coating a finished project.
What Else Do You Need for a UVPoxy Project?
For most flood coat or table top epoxy projects, you may also need mixing supplies, spreaders, gloves, a clean work surface, and possibly pigments depending on the look you want. If your project involves a casting pour before the top coat, choose the right casting resin first.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is EcoPoxy UVPoxy used for?
EcoPoxy UVPoxy is used for flood coats, table top coatings, bar tops, counters, wood finishing, artwork, and other thin clear coating applications.
Is UVPoxy a deep pour epoxy?
No. UVPoxy is a coating epoxy, not a deep pour casting resin. For river tables, thick pours, and larger casting projects, use EcoPoxy FlowCast.
Can I use UVPoxy for charcuterie boards?
UVPoxy can be used as a clear coating or flood coat on charcuterie boards, but it is not the best resin for a deeper charcuterie board casting pour. For shallow pours up to 1" deep, use EcoPoxy FlowCast SPR.
What is the difference between UVPoxy and FlowCast?
UVPoxy is a coating epoxy used for flood coats and top coats. FlowCast is a deep-pour casting epoxy used for river tables, live edge slabs, and larger casting projects.
What is the difference between UVPoxy and FlowCast SPR?
UVPoxy is for thin coating applications and final clear coats. FlowCast SPR is a small project casting resin for shallow pours up to 1" deep, such as charcuterie boards, trays, coasters, and small mold projects.
Can I use UVPoxy over a FlowCast river table?
Yes. After the FlowCast pour has fully cured and the surface has been properly flattened, sanded, cleaned, and prepared, UVPoxy can be used as a clear flood coat or top coat.
Can I add pigment to UVPoxy?
Yes. UVPoxy can be used with compatible pigments for tinted coatings, artistic finishes, and decorative effects. For epoxy colour options, shop our mica powder pigments or visit our Epoxy and Resin Guides Hub for more project help.
