Each of our sappy walnut slabs is kiln-dried, flattened, and sanded to a smooth 80-grit finish, making them incredibly DIY-friendly. They require minimal sanding before you can apply your chosen finish. You might discover some knots and voids that could be beautifully filled with resin, further enhancing the wood's character.
Preserving the slab's maximum thickness is a priority for us, and we ensure this by planing all slabs to 80%. Some areas might require additional sanding, but rest assured, one side of the slab is always planed 100%.
To bring out the best in these boards, we recommend using Walrus Oil- Cutting Board Oil, or, to darken the 'sap' look, try Rubio Castle brown.
Keep in mind that while the pictures offer an example of what you can expect, the exact slab you receive will be unique. We personally inspect each slab before shipping to ensure it meets our high standards.
